Legal Framework
The
legal framework of the bilateral relations is quite
advanced between our countries, with 29 treaties signed
in the field of employment, promotion and reciprocal
protection of investments, road transport, education and
culture, etc.
Economic relations
During
January-April 2009 (except commercial activity of
economic entities from the eastern districts), the
export of goods to the Kingdom of Belgium reached the amount of
1748 thousands US Dollars, while import from
Belgium - 6361,5
thousands US Dollars.
Currently
in Moldova are
registered and operate about 35 Moldovan-Belgian joint
ventures, including corporate such companies as:
“Carmez”, “World Party”, “Alpha Industries”,
“Moldabela”.
Between
September 14th and September 20th
2009, a business forum entitled "
Moldova presents" took
place in the Benelux countries (
Belgium,
Netherlands and
Luxembourg
).
It was organized by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce
of the
Republic
of
Moldova in
partnership with MIEPO, Chamber of Commerce and Industry
( CCI) and with the active support of
the Embassy of Moldova in Belgium. This is for the first time such an
event was simultaneously organized in all three
Benelux
countries.
Business
meetings in Antwerp and
Hasselt were attended by
about 28 enterprises representing the Republic of Moldova and about 50
enterprises from Belgium. Moldovan delegation was composed of
businessmen representing the Chisinau municipality,
districts of Drochia, Nisporeni, Soroca, Telenesti and
Tiraspol. They and
operating in various fields, including agriculture,
poultry, construction, transport, energy,
infrastructure, trade and
others.
Socio-cultural
cooperation
Achieving
cultural exchange between both countries is stipulated
in the Cooperation Agreement between the Government of
the Republic of
Moldova and the
French Community of Belgium, signed on 24 June 2003,
during the visit of President of the Republic of Moldova in Brussels. Pursuant to
the treaty, in March 2006 was organized the first
meeting of the Joint permanent
Commission.
