Marriage

  The documents required for a foreign national wishing to marry a citizen of Moldova within the territory of the Republic of Moldova are the following:

    • Passport
    • Birth certificate
    • Civil status certificate (single, divorced, widow)
    • Document that confirms the termination of marriage (if any) - certificate of partner's death, divorce certificate, court's decision on annulment of marriage or excerpt from the marriage act with the remark that the marriage is annulled, court's decision regarding the divorce
    • Matrimonial certificate (proof that there is no impediment to the marriage and that the person is allowed to get married according the law of his/her country of origin)
    • Medical certificate attesting the state of health (including HIV/AIDS test)


   All of these documents must be legalized and translated (for details see Legalisation). From the passport shall be translated only pages that contain identification data, entry visa for Moldova, border crossing stamps applied by the border guard, other important data relevant for the processing of the marriage declaration.

   The personal presence of applicants for the marriage declaration submission is mandatory.
